Mavis “May May” M. Hill, age 64, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. She was born August 25, 1952 to the late Melvin Mason Sr. and Marilyn Mason. She was the beloved wife of Jonathan S. Hill for 44 years. Mother of Brandy H. Green (Ben), Joshua M. Hill (Kristen), Nicholas J. Hill and the late Stewart Hill. Grandmother of Caitlyn V. Green, Aubrey K. Hill, Kyara J. Green and Mercedes J. Green. Sister of Margaret Veil, Carolyn Jones (Steve) and Melvin Mason Jr. (Diane). Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hill moved to Metairie, LA in 1972 from Harleston, MS. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “May May” and friend to everyone. She was a devoted caregiver and loved spending time with her family and grand kids. She loved Christmas and made the best fudge and baked mac-n-cheese. Her favorite quote to her family was “hold on and enjoy the ride”.
Funeral services will be held from the Metairie home of THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd Street on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. The Rev. Jack Boudreaux will officiate. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Rosedale Methodist Church Cemetery, Harleston, MS.
