Theresa G. Christiana

Theresa Mae Christiana nee Gremillion “Tee” was born on August 4, 1934 in Plaucheville, Louisiana and passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Inspired Living, Kenner, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Abbey John Gremillion and Marie Mae Brassette of Plaucheville, both of whom predecease her. Upon graduating from high school and vocational school, she moved to the greater New Orleans area where she met and married Bernard “Benny” Christiana. She and Benny had two children, Gwyn Christiana Catt and Paul Jerome Christiana, both of whom survive her along with grandson, Matthew Herrin and a brother Albert Gremillion (Myra Simon). She is also survived by Gwyn’s husband Paul Catt and Paul’s wife, Lee Ann Thelen. Deceased family include her husband, granddaughter Alaina Herrin, grandsons Brad and Jason Herrin, sisters Dolores Gremillion (Newman Gremillion), Margaret English (Hunter English), and brother Russell Gremillion (Sylvia Chenevert).
Tee will be remembered by family and friends for her sweet disposition and broad circle of friends and activities including athletics late into life. She had a voice like a songbird and was part of the Sweet Adelines and the choir at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic church in Metairie for many years. Her voice was pure and true, much like her character. She and Benny were great dancers and won jitterbug dance competitions in their younger days.
A celebration of her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM from Tharp Sontheimer Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 followed by a private inurnment in the Plaucheville Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
