Shirley P Magas

Shirley Paisant Magas passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Monday afternoon, March 12, 2018. She was 91 years old. Beloved wife of the late Charles W. Magas for over 52 years. Loving mother to her daughters, Vicky Magas, Charlene M. Wood (Gregory), and Alison M. King (the late Joseph) and her niece Carole S. O’Hare (Jim). Proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Daughter of the late Helen D. and Oliver J. Paisant. Shirley was born and raised in New Orleans and later moved to Metairie where she spent her remaining time. She was very active socially, and enjoyed participation in the Golden Agers of Lakeshore Playground, AARP Jefferson Parish, Krewe of Nemesis, Rotary Club of Slidell, Paul Harris Fellows. Shirley will always be remembered for her commitment to her loving pets, Yoda and Gert. Special thanks to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Abita Springs for all of their support. Shirley will be dearly missed and will always be remembered for her devotion to family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 North Causeway Boulevard, Metairie, on Thursday March 15, 2018. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM with funeral services beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans. An online guestbook is available at www.tharpsontheimerfh.com.
