Joseph Clarence Durr Sr.

Joseph C. (J.C.) Durr, Sr. entered into rest on January 12, 2023 at the age of 68. Son of the late Clarence J. Durr and Jenny Durr. Father of the late Joseph Durr, Jr. Beloved husband of Catherine Rafidi Durr for 28 years. Brother of Peter Durr, Sr. (Louise). Brother-in-laws to Nicholas and David Rafidi, Sr. (Holly). Uncle to Peter Durr, Jr. (Karlie), Nicholas Durr (Michelle), Kylie Rafidi (Danny), David Rafidi, Jr., Sarah Rafidi, Michelle Rafidi, Julia Smith (Brandon), Olivia Rafidi, Nicholas Rafidi, and his beloved "grandson" dog, Cletus. Also survived by many relatives and friends.

J.C. was born on February 21, 1954 in New Orleans, LA. After growing up in Old Jefferson with his family, he worked at Rheem Manufacturing for 10 years. He then went into business with his father catching local seafood on Lake Ponctchartrain. When health issues arouse, he had to retire at early age. J.C. was an avid fisher, hunter, and grew his famous tomatoes every year. He also enjoyed cooking the best seafood, boiled or fried, to all of his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, a good father and brother. He is loved by many. He is remembered mostly his kindness and compassion for others. J.C. was adamant about his beliefs but always able to make a friend with anyone he met.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA.
