JACQLYN ROBUCK

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqlyn (Jackie) Sandoz- Peterson-Robuck, on April 16, 2019. She was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She left us peacefully at her home in Metairie, Louisiana surrounded by family members. She was in her 74th year of life.

Born in New Orleans, LA on 08/18/1944 she was born into a large disadvantaged family with six siblings. The siblings were separated and she landed in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic girl’s home. She was later adopted out as a teenager by her special loving mother, Betty JoAnn Lawson (deceased). She embraced her new life with her new family. She thrived in school, learned how to sew and became quite the social butterfly. These life experiences molded her into the lady that she became for the rest of her life.

She met and married Edward A Peterson (deceased), her first husband and father of her two children in 1963. After living in New Orleans and giving birth to her two girls, the family put down their roots in Metairie, LA. The couple successfully opened their own business that was named J’s Truck Service. “J” for Jackie.

Mom loved all children and quickly became the neighborhood mom. There was always a house full of kids. She was answering business calls, cooking for all of us and running the house all at the same time. She would always say how those were the best times of her life.

After a divorce from her first husband, she later married Cecil Robuck. By this time, her children were older and she was a grandmother to four grandchildren. They all loved spending time on trips, at the zoo and birthday parties with the grandkids. There was never a dull moment! During this time she was employed as a private sitter for the elderly. She loved her patients and was great at what she did.

After a divorce from her second husband, mom decided to come back home to the family house in Metairie. She had always wanted to have a home for the family to be together. Mission accomplished! At one point, there were five generations living under the roof. There were three weddings, several baby showers, too many birthday parties to count, the annual St. Patrick parade parties, swimming parties and many crawfish boils and barbeques. Not to mention the constant revolving door of family and friends that would gather just because. She loved every minute of it. Her motto was…The more, the merrier!
Mom was also blessed to be a great grandmother to four. The time spent with them were blessings to her. She would say that she could not believe that she lived long enough to have great grandchildren.

Mom was a petite, beautiful, loving, caring, hard-working, no nonsense, witty, generous, spicy lady who was loved by so many. She fought a long fight of trying to stay here with us on earth, but she finally succumbed to her illnesses. She shall feel no more pain and can breathe with ease.

She was the beloved mother of Rhonda Mercadal (“Favorite Son-In-Law” Bobby Mercadal) and Michelle Peterson, stepmother of Eddie Peterson Jr. (Chris Peterson) proud grandmother of Robby Mercadal Jr. (deceased), Victoria McCarthy (Shannon), Crystal Meyers (Roger Sr.) and Christopher Peterson (deceased), great grandmother of Robby Mercadal III, Alyssa Allen, Roger Myers Jr. and Beaux Myers, aunt to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Theresa, Dell, Faye and Susan, brothers Billy and Merlin.

Mom lived a long, full life. There were great times and many tragic events as well. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and would do anything she could to help the people that she loved.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA on Thursday, April 25, 2019, and visitation beginning at 11:00am with mass from 12:30pm to 1:00pm.
