Tribute

Edward George Wilson, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Metairie, La., passed away suddenly on March 10, 2018 at the age of 83 years old. He was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Ed graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans in 1952 before joining the United States Navy. He served during the Korean War, then returned home and
graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1960. He was a Certified Professional Insurance Agent and was still working part time in the agency he founded, Americas Marine and Casualty, Inc., until his death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Margaret (Jean) Deuchert Wilson; his loving daughters, Cheryl Wilson Robert (Jude) and Rachele Wilson Smith (Dave); devoted stepdaughters, Joann Mitchell Marasi, Robin Mitchell Trosclair (Danny), Karen Mitchell and Darlene
Mitchell; adoring grandchildren, Nicholas Robert, Michael Smith, Kathleen Smith, Ryan Smith, Shelly Marasi, Corry Marasi and Andrew Trosclair, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William John Joseph Wilson and Catherine Ann O’Brien Wilson; his sisters Marguerite W. Wesner (Willie), Bernadine W. Guzzo (Sam), Jacqueline W. Potts (John) and Catherine Ann W. Roser (Bill). Ed greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always ready to share his research on health and wellness or his knowledge about history and
politics. He was passionate about exercising and began running with the New Orleans Track Club in the 1990s, where he made many cherished memories and friendships. He will be most remembered by his family for his quick wit, his expert advice, his joy of learning and the inspiring way he cared for others. Visitation will take place starting at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16 at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 12:30 p.m. with military honors and a Mass of Christian burial officiated by Father Chris DeLerno immediately following in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will be scheduled at a later time in Greenwood
